Santa Venerina is 24 Km from Catania. This municipality rises on a coastal hilly area, located 337 meters above sea level.

The local agricultural production is based on the cultivation of wine, fruit, citrus and hazelnuts. Already inhabited during the Byzantine and Roman times, as attested by the remains of an ancient spa and its oratory of that time, the land of Santa Venerina was included in that of the nearby Acireale until 1934 when it achieved the establishment of the municipality.

His name is linked to the Patron of Santa Venera Acireale changed by a loving pet. Dedicated to Santa Venera Church matrices in eighteenth-century paintings of Alexander (1720-1793) and Pietro Paolo (1697-1760) Vasta. In the neighbouring village of Dagala del re you can admire the remains of a small Christian temple with wall paintings. Attractions include the Church of the Rosary, the Church of Santo Stefano and the Church of the Bongiardo.

The village of Santa Venerina time was inhabited by various peoples including the Romans and the Byzantines, who decided to build their place in this picturesque city. Very suggestive is the outer structure of the building with an imposing facade with three orders and an elegant dome of excellent workmanship. Among the local events is of great interest in the Living Nativity, held annually in the month of December in the public square.
